Howe Green Ltd, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of floor, wall and ceiling access hatches, has strengthened its team with the appointment of a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Imran Coowar joins the Howe Green head office team in Ware. Imran is well qualified for the new position. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire.
A specialist in new product development, 3D modelling and 2D drawing, Imran has developed his career as a Mechanical Design Engineer over the last decade. He has worked on a diverse range of applications including tail lifts, x-ray machines, turbines and pumps, petrol stations and cryogenic power storage units.
Howe Green was founded in 1983 to manufacture specialist floor access solutions for the supermarket sector. Over the last three decades, the company has grown to a team of 26 employees and now serves a wide range of industry sectors in the UK and internationally.
Howe Green was a family owned and operated business until March 2017 when the company was acquired by the ERA Group, and incorporated within the Bilco range of horizontal access products.
Imran comments, “I have joined Howe Green at an important time in the company’s history. There is a lot of change taking place - new systems and processes as well as the introduction of different working practices. It is exciting to be involved and to see the effects of the changes as they are implemented.
“Many of the access covers being manufactured at Howe Green are bespoke. The company has built a reputation over the last 35 years for developing practical solutions to address the issue of providing safe, easy access to concealed services.
“At first glance, the products may not appear to be highly technical but once you start to throw different sizes, loadings, fire ratings and materials into the mix, it suddenly becomes very interesting. I have always enjoyed the product development process so I am enjoying the challenge at Howe Green!”
Howe Green has a reputation for technical expertise, quality and service. The company’s access covers have been specified for many high profile projects, including Westgate Oxford shopping centre and Crossrail’s new Elizabeth line.
Managing Director, James Fisher, comments, “We are very pleased to have recruited Imran for this key role within the company. Imran brings new skills and expertise to the team. His knowledge and understanding of SolidWorks and previous experience working on new product development, especially in a customer facing role, is particularly valuable.
“It is essential that we can fully understand what our customers are seeking to achieve and have the ability to translate those requirements into a functional design. Imran has a significant level of expertise in this area.”
When he is not in work or working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Imran enjoys tinkering with his kit car, building furniture for home use, listening to music, but above all, spending quality time with his family.
